For many people, both men and women, hair loss is a troubling and embarrassing reality. Superficial as it sounds; hair constitutes an important part of the identity we project. Losing it can profoundly affect our self-esteem and can, as a result, cause depression and unhappiness.
There are numerous products and treatments out there directed at curing chronic and sudden hair loss. In some cases, these are very expensive, medical procedures and in others they are bottled lotions sold at your nearest pharmacy.
It is also possible to buy shampoos and conditioners designed as therapy to stop hair from falling out in the future. This strategy considers prevention as a treatment, but it has also not been scientifically confirmed.
Indeed, many over the counter products claiming to treat, prevent and cure hair loss have not been proven to be effective. The only real antidote to dramatic and irreversible hair loss is, it seems, to have an expensive and painful transplant.
In short, then, it is possible to treat serious hair loss, but this treatment is not readily available from your pharmacy. Instead, it involves many trips to a doctor, surgery and a hefty bank balance. Unfortunately, many hair loss sufferers simply cannot afford the specialists necessary to regenerate their hair, and this means they resort to other, less effective means of treatment.
